Obituary of Edwin R. Beischer

St. Johnsville: Edwin R. Beischer, a longtime St. Johnsville resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2013, in Folts Home, Herkimer. Ed was born in Little Falls, the son of the late Joseph and Olga (Ristock) Beischer, was educated in Crum Creek schools, and graduated from St. Johnsville High School, class of 1942. Until his retirement in 1983, he worked for the New York State Department of Transportation. From 1929 until 1969, he worked with his family on the family farm. Mr. Beischer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville, and was a former trustee for Rural Park Cemetery Association. Ed took much pride in the landscaping around his home and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include a nephew, Mark H. Sitterly of Wolcott, NY; three nieces, Lynn Harhay and husband Andrew of Holland, MA, Susan Milliman and husband Dean of Prattsburg, NY, and Joan Miller Sitterly and husband Gary of Newark, NY; along with several cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, William Beischer; and sisters, Irene Sitterly and Isabel Ponce. In keeping with Ed's wishes, graveside services will be held in the spring at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, NY, and will be conducted by the Reverend David A. Johnson. There are no calling hours at this time. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Lou Miklic, Peter Jones, and Attorney Gerard Snyder and the staff of Sullivan and Snyder Law Office, along with the staff of Folts Home, Herkimer for the care and help that was shown to Ed.
