Obituary of Clayton Robinson

Mr. Clayton Robinson 90 of 55 South Helmer Avenue Dolgeville, died Sunday December 8, 2013 at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Ellisville, Mississippi on November 17, 1923 the son of the late Charlie and Oree (Shows) Robinson and was educated in local schools. A Veteran of the World War II he served honorably in the United States Navy from January 1943 until his discharge in December 1945 with the rank of Seaman First Class. He was awarded the following service medals, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon & the American Theater Ribbon. Upon being discharged he relocated to Rockland County, New York where he married the former Margaret B. Jones on August 14, 1948. She predeceased him on November 21, 2006. Mr. Robinson was employed as a Safety Officer & Investigator for the State of New York in Rockland County. He retired from there in 1983. A community oriented person he also served as a Trustee, Police Commissioner and Tax Assessor for the village of Haverstraw. In addition he worked for the Narcotics squad for Rockland County and served as a Special Investigator for the Public Defender's Office. He is survived by a son and his wife Robin & Christine Robinson of Saratoga Springs, his daughters Diane and her husband William Bolak of Allen, Texas, Gail Barkovich of Hopewell Junction , NY his grandchildren William, David, Catherine, Christopher, Kimberly, Loren, Jason & Mark, along with 6 Great Grandsons and 2 Great Granddaughters, Nieces & Nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. In keeping with his wishes there are no formal services; however friends and neighbors are invited to stop at his residence on Friday December 13th, 2013 between 1-4PM to visit with his family. Memorials in his name may be sent to the American Cancer Society PO Box 7 Syracuse, NY 13057 or to the New York State Police PBA at 120 State Street Albany, NY 12207.
