Obituary of Mary M. Lamanna

ILION - Mary M. Lamanna, age 79, of Ilion, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013, at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, after a brief illness, with her family by her side. She was born on November 29, 1934, in Saranac Lake, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Lucy (Vecero) Marcoline and attended Ilion schools. Mary was employed at Nichols in Herkimer for twenty-three years, retiring twenty years ago to care for her cherished grandchildren and devoted family. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, past President of the Ilion Council of Catholic Women and past President of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Mary was a very devoted mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She had also enjoyed her special time with her friend Sam who predeceased her. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocco and Melanie Lamanna, and Joseph and Linda Lamanna; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ray Johnson, all of Ilion; nine grandchildren, Anthony Lamanna, Michelle Lamanna, Sarah Herrera and her husband, Eric, Mary, Victor and Christine Lamanna, and Joseph, Michael and Marissa Johnson; three step-grandchildren, Gregory Owen and his wife, Jessica, Andrew and Brittany Owen; great-grandchildren, Jared and Kimberlee Lamanna, and Kerrigan and Chase Owen; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her two cherished Persian cats, Sugar and Peaches. She was predeceased by her mother, Lucy, in 2003, whom she missed very much; also predeceased by her father, Joseph, in 1953; three brothers, Victor and Frank Marcoline, in 1978, and Phil Marcoline, in 1993; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lamanna, in 1986. Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, Ilion, and 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, North Ilion. Calling hours are Thursday, December 26, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion. The family wishes to thank Dr. Butala, Dr. Lawrence, the sixth floor nursing staff at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare, and a special thank you to ICU nurse, Tina.
