Obituary of Mildred Ann Lewis

Little Falls: Mrs. Mildred Ann "Millie" Lewis, 90, lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. Millie was born on June 21, 1923 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Samuel and Stella (Perkov) Cvitan. She attended Saint Mary's Academy in Little Falls and graduated with the class of 1941. Millie was married to Millard A. "Mal" Lewis in 1942. She was employed as a film developer at Gregorka's Camera Shop, Little Falls, and prior to that, worked at Newberry's. Millie was an active community member and dedicated her time in holding many offices. She was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Parish Church and was a member of its Rosary Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, AARP, Senior Citizens, and the Little Falls Home Bureau. She is survived by her loving family: sons, Donald Lewis and his wife Nora of Lexington, KY and James D. Lewis and his wife Marsha of Holland Patent; a daughter, Barbara Sadekoski and her husband Robert of Mohawk; grandchildren, Stephen Colangelo and his wife Lisa, Daniel Lewis and wife Audrey, Allen Lewis and wife Nicky, Brian Lewis and his fiancé Christine Moore, Greg Lewis, Casey Ernst and husband Richard, Mandy Mierek and husband David, Michael Sadekoski and wife Kristie, and David Sadekoski and wife Kate; a son-in-law, Anthony Colangelo of Little Falls; a sister-in-law, Margaret Jones of Herkimer; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Mal; a daughter, Jacqueline Ann Colangelo; granddaughter, Kristin Lynn Colangelo; her parents, Samuel and Stella Cvitan; brothers, Carlo, Rudy and Tony Cvitan; and a sister, Mary Wright. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls. The Little Falls American Legion Auxiliary is asked to meet at the funeral home at 7:00 PM to conduct their service. Millie's funeral will begin with a prayer service at the funeral home on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 10:15 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Parish Church, East Main Street, Little Falls. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Mal. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Little Falls Hospital Special Care Unit and Bassett Health Care for the excellent care and kindness shown during her illness.
