DOLGEVILLE - Mr. Robert R. "Bob" Santmyer, Sr., 66 of 26 Winton Lane Dolgeville, died Saturday January 4, 2014 at the Mohawk Valley Healthcare Center, Ilion. He was comforted with the love and support of his family at the time of his passing. Bob was born in Herkimer, on May 14, 1947 the son of the late Donald L. Coher and Eva M. Santmyer. He attended Poland schools and was a lifelong area resident. His marriage to Dawn E. Bailey took place on October 15, 1969 in Cold Brook, Connecticut. Bob was employed by the Rawlings Adirondack Bat Company of Dolgeville in the maintenance department. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club, and personally enjoyed hanging out with all of his friends at Stewarts and George Lumber in Dolgeville. He was an avid hunter from his Dodge Tree Stand. He enjoyed fishing and loved to ride his Harley. Surviving is his wife Dawn Santmyer of Dolgeville, his sons and their companions Robert R. Jr. and Kim Martin of Lancaster, PA and Chad J. and Coreena Dedicke of Middleville, Brothers and sister in law: Thomas Santmyer and wife Sharon of Syracuse and Louis Coher of Florida, his grandson and his companion: Robert W. and Kate Brown of Lancaster, PA and a very special niece: Donna Rhodes and husband Edwin of Johnstown. Bob has his extended family inclusive to John and Julie and his companion "Mykey." He was predeceased by his very special friend James Jaikin. Direct cremation services are being handled by The Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. There are no calling hours or funeral planned as per Bob's wish. A Special Thank You to Mohawk Valley health Care Center staff 2nd floor for all of their care and compassion shown to Bob during his illness.
