Obituary of Richard A Willoughby

FAIRFIELD - Mr. Richard A. Willoughby, age 57, of North Creek Road, Herkimer, NY, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2014. He was born on July 10, 1956, in Little Falls, a son of the late Harold and ILA (Boyer) Willoughby, Sr. Dick was educated in West Canada Valley Central Schools and was a Graduate with the "Class of 1974." He attended Herkimer County Community College for a while. He was a lifelong resident of our area and went on to serve our country with the United States Army. His marriage to the former Catherine D. "Cathy" Rice took place in 1980 in Richfield Springs, NY. He was last employed with the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center for 11 years in the dietary department. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church. In his personal time, Dick studied religion and was ordained as a minister. His family lineage dated back to ties with the "Mohawk Clan." He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy; his daughter, Bridget Pagnoni; stepdaughters, Diane Kretser and Christine Alexander; four granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-grandson; three sisters, Patricia Crota, of Florida, Kathleen Frazier and husband, Robert, of Florida, and Rosemary Miller and husband, Kenneth, of Little Falls; one brother, Timothy Willoughby and wife, Renee, of Glens Falls; also nieces, nephews and cousins; and In Laws, Robert Rice and wife, Margaret, and Donald Rice and wife, Linda, all of Massachusetts. He was predeceased by sons, Jason and Joshua Willoughby; his parents, Harold, Sr., and ILA; and a brother, Harold, Jr. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dick's life at calling hours which will be held on Friday evening, January 10, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY. His funeral service will commence at 7:00 p.m. after the calling hours at the funeral home. The family extends special thanks to the state troopers, the Herkimer County Coroner and special neighbors, Felix and Janice Ray.
