Obituary of Richard M Carney

Jordanville: Mr. Richard M. "Rich" Carney, 66, a lifelong resident of our area and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, February 15, 2014 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his wife, children and family. Rich was born on August 2, 1947 in Little Falls, a son of the late Albert and Louise (Maxwell) Carney. He was a lifelong area resident, and received his education in Little Falls schools, graduating with the St. Mary's Academy Class of 1965. On June 20, 1970, he and Palma A. Healey were married by Father Olpals in St. Mary's Church, Little Falls, forming a devoted and loving of nearly 44 years. Rich was a mechanic for Little Falls Lumber, and prior to that employment, worked at "Carney Farms," and a dairy farm, and Richard Carney School Bus. He had an amazing mechanical ability to make things run. Rich loved racing snowmobiles around his farm. He was honored by local residents with a plaque from the Mohawk Valley "Knucklebusters." Rich is survived by his devoted wife, Palma; his loving children, Debra A. Lynch of Herkimer and Brenda M. Crossett of Middleville; adored grandchildren, Kyle Lynch, Nolan Crossett, and Autumn Crossett. He also leaves his sisters, Teresa Carney, Mary Judd and her husband Chris, all of Little Falls, and Eleanor Comins of Herkimer; his in-laws, John and (Liz) Healey, Christine and (Mike) Tumski, Diana Healey, all of Little Falls, and Maria Healey of Maryland; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his favorite niece and nephew, Patti Crozier of Oppenheim and Mark Comins of Frankfort. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and William Carney, and a sister, Jean Warchol. Rich's family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Hospice and Palliative Care and Bassett Cancer Treatment Center, Cooperstown. Those wishing may donate in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Place, Utica, NY 13502 or Hospice and Palliative Care, 4227 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford 13413.
