Obituary of Amelia Rose Lukomski

HERKIMER - Mrs. Amelia Rose (Catroppa) Lukomski, age 89, a lifetime resident of Herkimer, NY passed away on Saturday evening, February 15, 2014, at the Little Falls Hospital. To her dearest family and friends she was affectionately known as "Millie." She was born on June 29, 1924 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Louise (Paestello) and Adam Catroppa. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School as well as the Utica Business School. Amelia worked at New York Central, Herkimer County TB and Health, then for many years at Herkimer County BOCES. It was at BOCES that her work consisted as that of the secretary of the Special Education Department. Millie was active in the Mohawk Valley Christian Women's Club. She loved spending time with her family and especially was fond of cooking wonderful meals for family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Edward Lukomski, Sr., as well as her sister Mary and a brother Edwin. Amelia is survived by her three children: Dr. Janet C. Herrmann (Siegfried) of St. Augustine, FL; Joann Giertuga (Garry) of Plainfield, IL; and Dr. Edward Lukomski, Jr. (Aileen) of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Dr. Ingrid Herrmann Holmes (Ben) of Wise, VA; Heidi Herrmann (Emma) of Morriston, FL; Heather Glass (Derek) of Plainfield, IL; Colin Ferguson of Austin, TX; Britta McKenna, Esq. (Matt) of Buffalo, NY; and Lara DeSousa (Stephen) of Medford, MA; great grandchildren: Dominic and Dylan Glass as well as nieces and cousins. Millie also received loving care from her neighbors: Bill Kraeger and Ron and Carol Beach and family. Her full service funeral arrangements have been planned with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer NY. The family will receive relatives and friends at a calling hour at the funeral home on Wednesday morning the 19th of February from 9 until 10 AM. A service with prayer will commence at 10 AM at the funeral home chapel led by Selma Profitt. Spring interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY.
