Obituary of Anna Zelinski

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Miss Anna Zelinski passed away peacefully on Thursday morning February 20, 2014 at the St. Johnsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, St. Johnsville, NY. Anna, a longtime Little Falls resident was born on November 2, 1913 in Braeburn, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Frank and Hedwig (Pietrusiak) Zelinski. She moved with her family to Inghams Mills around 1920 where they operated a dairy farm until 1947. She was educated in Inghams Mills schools. Anna was proud of being a regional spelling bee champion and loved to write poetry. She was employed as a nanny and domestic for several families in Utica, NY, Long Island, NY, and Ponte Vedra, FL. She lived with her last family for over fifty years, returning to Little Falls every summer for her vacation and retirement at age 86. She loved and stayed close to this family during retirement. Anna was very active in polka dancing. She attended classes and competitions from Florida to New York; danced at two Worlds Fairs, and was a member of the United Polka League in Utica, NY. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her cheerful disposition and iron will. Anna is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ida Johnson and Sophie Hoffman, and two brothers Edward Zelinski and Felix Zelinski. At the request of Anna there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Holy Spirit Polish National Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
