Obituary of Frank R. Spacapan

MOHAWK: Frank R. Spacapan, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer with the love and support of his family. Born in Little Falls, NY on January 8, 1927, Frank was the son of the late Louis and Ethel (Smith) Spacapan. He was raised and educated locally and was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. On June 2, 1951, he was united in marriage to the former Marlene Metot at St. Mary's Parish House in Little Falls; the couple sharing 62 years of love and devotion to one another. Frank was employed as a supervisor for Little Falls Color Print for many years. He was a member of the DeCarlo Staffo Post of Little Falls, the Herkimer American Legion and the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. Frank truly loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved his camp at Caroga Lake; enjoying it as often as he could. Blended with his extremely kind and generous nature, he was a supportive patriarch to his family. In truth, Frank's family enhanced his life and they were a major motivation of his happiness. "We love you to the moon and back." He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene of Mohawk; his son, Ronald and his wife Pat of Colchester, VT; his daughter, Joann Fannin and her husband Larry of Shrub Oak, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Kathleen McDonald and husband Steve, Kelly Spacapan, Kimberly Spacapan, Nicholas Fannin and wife Kristen, Jacquelyn Fannin, Wendy Boutin, William Hoag, and Tammy Jette; great grandchildren, Bailie and Brennan McDonald; a sister, Lois Spacapan and Jack Gallager of Tucson, AZ; a son-in-law, Roger Jette and wife Debra; a special niece and nephew, Linda and Jim Metott; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Jette. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital would be appreciated; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Visiting hours will be Monday, March 10, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls (315) 823-2424.
