Obituary of Margaret R. Urtz

ILION-FRANKFORT - Margaret R. (Latt) Urtz, age 96, of Debary, Florida, formerly of Ilion and Frankfort, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Halifax Health Hospice, Orange City, FL. She was born on January 3, 1918, in Frankfort, the daughter of Charles Ellis Latt and Maude (Jones) Latt, and graduated from Ilion High School in 1938. She was married to Paul S. Urtz on February 14, 1946, at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. He died on July 30, 1995. Margaret was employed as a bookkeeper at Herkimer Tool and Machining Corp. for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1978. She has been a resident of Florida since 1979. Margaret attended the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Debary, FL. She was also active in amateur radio (KD40PQ). Survivors include her sister, Helen Avery, of Inlet, NY; her sister-in-law, Cathy Latt; her brother-in-law, Joseph Urtz; and her sister-in-law, Lucy Joy, all of Ilion; her special niece, Linda Rider; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Frederick and Robert Latt; a sister, Cecilia Latt; and an aunt, Reba Culver. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral services on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion, and at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Shane M. Lynch. Spring burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours are Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion.
