Obituary of Domenick Cecconi

LITTLE FALLS - Mr. Domenick Cecconi, age 91, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, NY, passed away with his family at his side on Monday evening March 17, 2014 at the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Delray Beach, Florida. He was a World War II Veteran having served with the United States Army - Air Force. His honorable discharge with the 9th Air Force, US Army was issued January 27, 1946. While in the military, he served with the 67th service squadron 441st Troop Carrier Group, in the European Theatre of Operations. Dom refueled trucks used on the front lines and worked on 80 mm long range guns. Born on September 17, 1922 in Little Falls, NY, Dom was the son of the late Luigi and Armida (Pellinacci) Cecconi and received his education in Little Falls schools. Domenick became acquainted with Sadie Bavaro in the spring of 1946. Three months later, Domenick joined in marriage with Sadie. The union took place on July 20, 1946 at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer with the Reverend Gustav Purificato officiating. The couple shared in a loving devotion of over 53 years together characterized by their faith, love, and devotion to one another and their family. He last worked within the financial industry with IDS in Utica, NY as a financial sales representative. He at one time had also worked with Chicago Pneumatic in Utica. He was a member of the DeCarlo Staffo Post #8, Little Falls. Dom is survived by his son Richard Cecconi and wife Christine of Cortland, NY; four grandchildren: Jennifer Cantabene (husband Robert), Domenick Cecconi (wife Adell Cumale), Andrea Cecconi (husband David Zaffrann), Nicholas Cecconi; two great grandchildren: R.J. and Scarlett Cantebene; In-laws: Julie Emmett and Anne Cecconi; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sabena in 1999, his son Louis Cecconi in 1994; his brother Michael Cecconi and his sister Anna Costello. Domenick's funeral arrangements are being handled by Funeral Directors Harry & Kevin Enea of The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315) 823-2424. The Mass of the Resurrection in honor of Domenick will be held on Monday March 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 Albany Street Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, NY where interment will take place with full military honors alongside his beloved wife Sadie. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY on Sunday evening March 23rd from 4 until 6 PM.
