FRANKFORT - Mrs. Helen Anson Steves, age 85, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 19, 2014, at the Valley Health Services, Village of Herkimer, NY. She was a former resident of Streamside Manor in Frankfort. She was the youngest child born to the late Ellen (Neary) and Daniel Goggin from Holland Patent, NY. Helen moved to Herkimer, NY in 1960 where she was employed by Marine Midland Bank and a single mother of two. She married Andrew Steves in May of 1984. Andrew passed away in 1994. Helen retired from Marine Midland Bank after 25 years of service. She continued to offer her services to Manpower Agencies and was employed by ARC where her love of children and good will for all shined through. She was a member of the Ilion/Frankfort VFW Post and was an avid volunteer. Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda Friend and her husband, Stephen, of Middleton, Massachusetts; her son, Al Anson and wife, AnnMarie, of Wheatley Heights, NY; and Charles Cowell, her loving brother-in-law, of Ilion, NY; along with two grandchildren, Brandon Friend and Bethany Anson. Helen's family will always be grateful for the wonderful care from the nurses and aides at Valley Health Services. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00 PM from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY with Al Anson, Pastor (son of Helen) officiating. Spring interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Enea Family funeral home, North Washington Street location, on Wednesday from 4PM until the time of the services. The Ilion-Frankfort VFW Post # 502 Auxiliary will gather at 5:00 PM Wednesday for their service.
