Obituary of Mary L Regan

LITTLE FALLS: Mrs. Mary L. Regan, 87, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. She was born on June 24, 1926 in Middleville, NY a daughter of the late James W. and Mary A. (Murphy) Dorcy. She attended St. Mary's Academy where she graduated with the class of 1943. She went on to attend Albany Business College where she graduated with the class of 1944 (receiving highest honors). On June 28, 1947, she was joined in marriage with James H. Regan at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls, with Father Whelly officiating. The couple shared a union that was blessed with mutual concern and respect for one another. The marriage was that of nearly 55 years. Jim passed away on June 24, 2002. Mary was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish in Little Falls. For over 55 years she was active with the Holy Family Parish Rosary Society. She worked with Walsh Construction in Little Falls where she assisted with the removal of the "Gulf Curve" project. She also worked at one time with Cooper Erving and Savage of Albany, NY. Mary last worked with Cooperative Extension in Herkimer as a nutrition aide. Mary displayed constant attention, support and kindness to her family and friends. She and her husband Jim were a happy couple; happiness that stemmed from the wonderful family life they had. They were ever so proud of their Irish heritage as well. Surviving are children: James T. Regan and wife Geraldine of Syracuse, NY; William M. Regan and Angela of Lawrenceville, PA; Patrick E. Regan and wife Penny of Newark, DE; Daniel R. Regan of Arlington, Texas; Timothy D. Regan of Little Falls; and Martin R. Regan and wife Melinda of Little Falls; several cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren all of which were dear to her heart; special In Laws: Marion Regan of Little Falls; and Robert and Carol McDonough of Little Falls; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special cousins Rose Pavalock of Georgia and Patrick Nagle of Dolgeville. She was predeceased by her son Dennis G. Regan, an infant son Francis J. Regan as well as her husband and parents. The Regan Family will receive friends and relatives at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424 on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4-8 PM. Mary's funeral service will begin with prayer at the funeral home at 10:45 AM on Saturday, April 12, 2014 and her Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 AM at the Holy Family Parish, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls and will be celebrated by the Reverend Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Procession will then follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband, James.
