MOHAWK: Mary F. (Martellotti) Michaud, 89, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Herkimer, NY on August 8, 1924, Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Erminia "Virginia" (Caucic) Martellotti. Raised and educated locally, she was a 1942 graduate of Herkimer High School. She continued her education by attending St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Nashua, NH, holding the honor of Class President and graduating in 1948 as a registered nurse. While working in the Cadet Nurse Corp program at St. Joseph's, Mary met the love of her life, Joseph G. Michaud, whom she cherished and made a lifelong commitment to on June 19, 1948 at St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. As a devoted couple, they held a mutual respect and love for each, until Joe's passing on November 10, 2012. Mary worked as a registered nurse at Herkimer Hospital for many years. She also worked as a private duty nurse providing end of life care services and some of her dearest friends were made through that line of work. Mary was a kind, gentle loving soul who offered her heart and guidance to her loved ones. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and nurturing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Rosary Society and a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Rose and husband Ron of Mohawk and Cynthia A. Michaud of Herkimer; her sons, Joseph L. Michaud and wife Lougene and Pierre Michaud and wife Stacey all of Mohawk, Robert Michaud and wife Judy of Ilion and Gerard Michaud and wife Gail of Bellwood, PA; a very close friend, who was considered a son to Mary, Father James "Pete" Wright and wife Penny of Redlands, CA; her cherished grandchildren, Heather Judd and husband Luke, Holly Yardley and husband Mike, Maree Sacks and husband Aaron, Joseph L. Michaud, Daniel Michaud and wife Alexa, Adrienne Watson and husband Robert, Stephanie Boepple and husband Eric, Thomas Michaud, Cheryl Davis and husband Kevin and Danielle Michaud; her great grandchildren, Christopher, Logan and Cullen Judd, Michael, Matthew and Blake Yardley, Nathan Sacks, Jack Watson, Veda and Casey J. Boepple; her in-laws, Gerard Michaud, Roland Michaud and wife Hilda, Magella Jackson and husband John, Chester Scerra and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her 11 siblings. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY (Town of Frankfort) 315-894-8000 on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Mary's funeral will commence on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home where prayers will be offered and at 10:00 a.m. from Blessed Sacrament Church, 54 E. Main St., Mohawk where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Procession will then follow to Mohawk Cemetery, Mohawk, NY where Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Joe. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation in Mary's memory to the Epilepsy Foundation; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
