SCHUYLER-ILION - Howard C. Moss, age 77, of West Winfield, formerly of Ilion and Schuyler, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1936, in Schuyler, NY, the son of Howard and Dorothy (Gevis) Moss, and attended Frankfort schools. Mr. Moss was a veteran and served in the USMC. In his early years, he worked for Enjem's Carpet & Linoleum for approximately ten years and later was employed by the Village of Ilion Parks & Recreation. He also worked at Univac, retiring several years ago. Surviving family members cherishing his memory are one daughter, Ellen Hoage, of Ilion; three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard C. Moss, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn, of Ilion, Arthur Moss and his wife, Mai-Uyen, of CA, and John W. Moss and his wife, Teresa, of Cedarville, NY; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Moreau, of Ilion, and Florence Treen, of West Winfield, NY; his brother, Harold Moss, of Frankfort; special niece and caregiver, Beverly "Missy" Davis, of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Almira Coffin. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion (old Main St. between Ilion and Frankfort), with Rev. Paul Bannister, II, Pastor of the Light House Baptist Church, Utica, officiating. Spring interment will be in E. Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the funeral home service.
