Obituary of Jane L Polley
ILION - Jane L. Polley, age 94, of Otsego St., Ilion, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer.
She was born on September 6, 1919, in Ilion, the daughter of George R. and Minnie (Kade) Gonyea, and attended Ilion High School. On June 8, 1938, she was married to Donald R. Polley at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, and they enjoyed 75 years of marriage together. Jane was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, Neighborhood Card Club, Neighborhood Coffee Klutch, Birthday Club, and a former member of a Sewing Club. She was also a member and past Senior Regent of the Ilion Women of the Moose and member and past Regent of the Ilion Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Bridget #265.
Survivors include her husband, Don; her daughter, Gertrude Shaw, of Ilion; her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald F. and Linda Polley, of Ilion, and Ronald and Kathy Polley, of Sanduskey, Ohio; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; one great-great- granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Thelma Gonyea; and her brother, George Gonyea.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion, and 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Catena, Pastor. Members of Ilion Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Bridget #265 will serve as Honor Guard at the Mass. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
Calling hours are Monday, May 19, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Bridget #265 service will be held Monday at 5:00 p.m. and the Ilion Women of the Moose service will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
