Obituary of Lucy Licari

Mrs. Lucy Licari of St. Johnsville, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, NY. She was 91 and was blessed with her family at her side. She was born on December 12, 1922 in Frankfort, NY, the daughter of Carmello and Anna LoRe. Beloved wife of 53 years to Louis Licari, she was the devoted mother of her two sons, Sam (wife Anna) and Carmen (wife Rhonda) and sister of Mary Cross, Betty Tarnacki, and Josie Palumbo. Lucy is the cherished grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Ryan (wife Cristina), Shea, Louis, Nicholas (wife Lynne), Tony, Andrew, and Lindsey; and great granddaughter Avery. She was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Lucy and Louis founded and operated a local supermarket chain for 40+ years starting with Thriftway Supermarket in St. Johnsville, NY. Lucy loved her family, friends, bingo, the church, and horseracing thanks to the passion of her husband. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 24th, 2014 at 11:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, St. Johnsville, NY where prayer will be offered and at 12:00 Noon from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 32 West Main Street in St. Johnsville where her funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Rafal Dadello. Interment will follow at the family plot in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lucy's name to the Catholic Charities of Fulton & Montgomery Counties. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Center Street in St. Johnsville on Friday evening May 23rd from 5 until 8 PM.
