Obituary of Charles K. Hilts

COLUMBIA CENTER - Mr. Charles K. Hilts, 61, of Richfield Springs, passed away unexpectedly at his home with his beloved wife at his side on May 23, 2014. He is the husband of Ann (Casler) Hilts. They were married on October 3, 1975, a loving union of 38 years. He was born in Ilion, NY on October 8, 1952 a son of the late Elwood and Ann Hilts. Charles went to school in Mohawk, NY and later served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged in 1972. He was a Disabled American Veteran. The most important thing for Chuck was spending time with his family. He was an excellent family cook. Chuck enjoyed westerns, collecting (He was a true ("American Picker"), antiques, refinishing furniture, fishing and camping. He could fix anything that you put in front of him and had a passion for riding his motorcycle and hunting. Survivors include his beloved wife Ann L. Hilts; his daughters: Jennifer and her husband Carl Depo of Raleigh, NC, Nellie Hilts of Utica, Bethany and her husband Derek Miller of Marlboro, VT, sons: Charles K. Hilts II of Richfield Springs and Ben Hilts of Utica; grandchildren: Caitlyn Hilts, Allie Depo, Charles K. Hilts III, Hailee Hilts, K.C. Depo; his brothers: Elwood (Neva) Hilts, Robert (Juanita) Hilts, John (Robin) Hilts, Donald (Michelle) Hilts, Richard (Ruth) Hilts, sisters: Marilyn Murphy, Bev Fike, Carlotta (Cap) Fuller; sister in law: Kathleen Hilts and many special nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by brothers Ronald and William Hilts and sister Shirley Gay. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, May 28 from 3pm - 5pm and the funeral by Reverend David Zoeckler at 5pm. Both at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Main Street), Ilion, NY. Interment will take place at a later date at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer where full military rites will be accorded.
