ILION - Mrs. Marion R. (Simser) Rhone, age 89, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Thursday May 29, 2014 at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, NY. She was born on August 28, 1924 in Lyonsdale, NY a daughter of the late Leon and Edith (Yauger) Simser and was educated in Port Leyden schools. Her marriage to Wilbur O. "Bill" Rhone took place on August 27, 1941 in Port Leyden. The couple shared in a blessed union of nearly 57 years until the passing of Mr. Rhone on July 21, 1998. Their bond was unique because of their unconditional love and true companionship that fulfilled their lives. The family fondly remembers Bill's affectionate referral to Marion as "Dolly." As a loving matriarch, the greatest gift in Marion's life was the love and joy that her family gave to her, and being an admired mother was one of her greatest rewards. She was unselfish with every act of kindness and sacrifice she made to her loved ones, a testament to her spirit of giving and limitless generosity. Her grandchildren brought her to an additional level of gratitude and giving, and she made sure that each of them was blessed with a special memory and occasion of her love. She shared her wisdom with them and left a great impression upon their lives. And the secret to her longevity was enjoying the lively company of her great-grandchildren!
