Obituary of William D Heron

LITTLE FALLS: William D. Heron, Sr., 87, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 with his loving family at his side. He was born on November 12, 1926 in Utica, NY, the son of William G. and Esther Heron. Though an only child, his close cousin, Meribeth Greer, was a large part of his life up until her passing last year. Bill was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls. He served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theater, and was a proud veteran. After the war he was united in marriage with Gladys Maruszak, who predeceased him in February of 1981. For many years, Bill was employed at Univac and Mohawk Data Sciences. After retirement he enjoyed many hobbies, including swimming at the YMCA, hiking, and woodcarving, which he excelled at. He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion. Bill was a kind and helpful man, liked by all. Surviving Bill are six children, John of Chelmsford, MA, Charles of Little Falls, Fran of Little Falls, William Jr. of Utica, Ann of Maui Hawaii, and Michael of Little Falls, daughters-in-law Judith, Sue, Theresa and Merrilyn. He also leaves five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There are no public calling hours. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are be handled by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424. Bill's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sheila, Becky,Stacey, Amy, Theresa, and Anna, dad's devoted nurses and also to the entire Alpine staff for their tender and compassionate care provided to Bill during his stay.
