Obituary of Salvatore J. Lattuca

Richfield Springs: Mr. Salvatore J. Lattuca, age 95, of Richfield Springs and formerly of Buffalo, passed away peacefully, Saturday July 5, 2014 in the Martin Lutheran Home, Clinton, NY with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 13, 1918, in Racalmuto, Sicily, the son of the late Angelo and Angela (Mendola) Lattuca. The family fondly remembers his step-mother Cologera Spitale (Lena Lattuca) and paternal grandpa Salvatore Lattuca. Salvatore married the former Theresa C. Sciumeca in Buffalo on September 21, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Lattuca were long - time residents of Buffalo before moving to the Mohawk Valley to be closer to their son. After 65 years of love and devotion, Theresa passed away on May 13, 2012. Salvatore was a decorated World War II Veteran. He enlisted July 25, 1941 and upon discharge November 27, 1945 was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star amongst other citations including the Jubilee Medal for action in Northern France. He was last employed as a tool assembler with J.H. Williams Tool & Dye of Buffalo, NY. He was a devoted patriarch to his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Angelo and Vicki Lattuca of Richfield Springs; son-in-law: David Wasik; his brother-in-law, Joseph Sciumeca of Buffalo; his grandchildren Paul and Christina Lattuca and Melissa and Rob Beutel; his great grandchildren, Evan and Myla Lattuca and Branden and Kyle Beutel; his step grandchildren, Eric Brodock and Kerey Brodock and her fiancée, Adam Dorn; his step great grandchildren, Kiara and Kailey Brodock, Adam J. Dorn and Mariana; his brothers: Edward Lattuca, Joseph Lattuca, Charles and Dolly Lattuca and Anthony and Donna Lattuca and many nieces and nephews. Salvatore was predeceased by his wife Theresa; daughter, Marilyn Wasik and his sisters, Philomena Mattina, Frances Lattuca and Angela Fortushnick. In Keeping Salvatore's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A memorial graveside service for Mr. & Mrs. Salvatore J. Lattuca will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. It will be accompanied with full military honors at Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY.
