EAST HERKIMER - Miss Ruth A. Ward, age 87, of East Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 31, 2014 at the Valley Health Services in Herkimer with her family at her side. She was born on August 9, 1926 in Newport, NY a daughter of the late William and Cecilia (Weber) Ward and attended Mohawk Central School. She last worked with the Folts Homes of Herkimer in the dietary department. She retired in 1988, after 26 years of dedicated service. Ruth loved crosswords and lotto tickets. She was also fond of playing solitaire on the computer. She is survived by her brother, Bill Ward of Herkimer; sisters, Carol Wren, of Herkimer, and Joan Canorro, of Little Falls; 20 nieces and nephews including her beloved nephew, Tom Wren, Jr. She was predeceased by a sister RoseMary Wren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 5, 2014 at 11:00 am in Saint Francis de Sales Church, North Bellinger Street, Herkimer. The Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Newport. There are no public calling hours.
