Obituary of David R. Blatchford

BALDWINSVILLE - David R. Blatchford, 89, formerly of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Presbyterian Home, in New Hartford. He was born on August 5, 1925, in Wyoming, NY, the son of Ernest and Sylvia (Hale) Blatchford and graduated from Wyoming High School. David attended several colleges and graduated from the University of Colorado with a master's degree. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. On April 12, 1968, he was married to Erma Jane Prescott at the Ilion Presbyterian Church. Mr. Blatchford was employed as a guidance counselor at the Liverpool Middle School, Liverpool, NY for many years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed spending time boating and water skiing as well as snow skiing. He traveled many years in his motor home. Survivors include his loving wife, Erma Jane (Prescott) Blatchford; his sister, Louise Smith, of Webster; his sister-in-law, Cherie (Prescott) Williams, of New Hartford; his brother-in-law, Jack Lee, of Rochester; his sister-in-law, Bernice Pero, of California; and several nieces, nephews and many cousins. David was predeceased by his sisters, Rowena McGrail, and Helen Lee; his brother, Richard Blatchford; and his infant daughter, Deborah. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Norwich Corners Cemetery, Graffenburg Rd., Town of Litchfield, NY, with Tom Lorenz, Chaplain of the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford, officiating.
