Obituary of Anthony J Barretta

FRANKFORT: Anthony J. "Butch" Barretta, Sr., 67, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Folts Home, Herkimer with the love and support of his family. Born in Ilion on November 26, 1946, Butch was the son of the late Victor and Mary (Loiacano) Barretta. Raised and educated locally he was a graduate of Frankfort High School Class of 1965. Butch proudly and honorably served his country as a United States Navy veteran from 1966-1969 and was also a part of the Seabees for 20 years. On September 26, 1970 he wed the former Mary Ann Puleo at St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Butch was last employed at Walmart Distribution Center and at one time also worked for MDS. He adored his grandchildren and his face lit up when he was in their presence. He was affectionately called "Poppy" by them. Butch was an avid New York Yankees fan and dearly loved his canine companions, Adrienne and Buddy. During his younger years he played cymbals for the Frankfort Starlighters. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, Anthony Barretta, Jr. of Frankfort; a daughter, Tracie Pasquale and husband Rick of Frankfort; his beloved granddaughters, Sadie and Kira; a brother, Joseph Barretta and wife Felicia of Spencerport; his sisters, Dorothy LaMonica and husband Jerome of Frankfort and Cathy Barretta of Deerfield. He is also survived by his in-laws, James and Dana Puleo of Tennessee and many nieces, nephews and cousins The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd floor staff of the Folts Home for their care and compassion shown to Butch during his illness. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, NY (Town of Frankfort), 315-894-8000 on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 5-7 PM.
