Obituary of Nancy C. DeRusso

ILION - Nancy C. DeRusso, age 73, of London Towers, Ilion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with her family by her side. She was born on April 17, 1941, in Herkimer, the daughter of James and Bertha (Bastille) Tubia, and attended Ilion schools. Nancy was a self-employed caregiver for local residents in their own homes for many years. She was an active member of the Herkimer Co. Salvation Army, its Home League and was an annual Christmas Kettle worker/volunteer. Nancy was also a former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Brown and her husband, Charlie; her sons, Roger Salvagni and his wife, Lori, Alan Salvagni and his wife, Jackie, all of Ilion, and Timothy Phillips, of Oregon; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Deloris Collette, of Mohawk, Pat and John Allen, of Ilion, and Daureen and Wayne Gifford, of West Winfield; five brothers and one sister-in-law, Ron Collette, of Mexico, Fred Collette, of Mexico, Jim and Mary Tubia, of Ilion, Dennis Tubia, of Ilion, and Rob Tubia, of Ilion; fourteen grandchildren, Roxanne and Tim Murphy, John and Amber Pickett, Shane Alfred, Nicole and Joseph Beasley, David Davis, Trisha, Kyle, Jeremy, and Brandon Salvagni, Aria Churchill and Mycena Perrone; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Robin Lee Davis; and three sisters, Theresa Larrabee, Barbara Bouck and Pauline Cummings. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion, with Major James Smith of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be in Cedarville Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, October 3, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the funeral home service at 102 West St., Ilion. Thank you to a special niece, Tina Lopez, and Diana, her caregiver, and Judy Elthorp, Vivyan Eckstrand and Barb Salanco for their kindness and support throughout Nancy's illness.
