LAKE CHARLES, LA-MOHAWK: R. Kristopher Zaborek, 46, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Lake Charles, LA. Born on October 1, 1968, Kris was the son of Jeanne (Prosser) Jarvi and the late Robert E. Zaborek. Raised and educated locally, Kris was a graduate of Mohawk High School and SUNY IT, receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in nursing. In 1987, he served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, serving his country for 3 years. Kris worked as a Director of Surgical Services for Christus St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He also, at one time, worked as Director of Nursing in peri- operative services for Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. During his high school years he was a great athlete, lettering in wrestling, football and baseball. An avid fisherman, he also loved to collect fishing reels and rods. Friends will always remember him for his constant smile and sense of humor. He is survived by his mother, Jeanne Jarvi and her husband William of Sand Springs, OK; his son, Zachary Zaborek of Herkimer, a step son, Joseph Filbert and Joey's mother, Jodie Zaborek and his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Zaborek of Mohawk. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Zaborek and a sister, Melissa McCann. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service which will take place on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., (Town of Frankfort) Ilion, NY (315)894-8000. Calling hours will take place an hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of floral arrangements, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Kris's memory; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
