Obituary of Ann Danielak

HERKIMER - Mrs. Ann (Sokol) Danielak was born August 26, 1924 in Herkimer, NY, a daughter of the late Panko and Eva (Fesh) Sokol. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School, Class of 1942. She went on to attend Central City Business Institute (CCBI) of Syracuse where she achieved her Associates Degree. Her marriage to Stanley Danielak took place on September 3, 1949. The couple shared in over 63 years of marriage. Together they had lived in Gloversville for over 33 years. They moved back to Herkimer in 1985. Stanley died February 24, 2013. Ann held various positions throughout her lifetime including having worked as a home health - aid and at a bank. Her retirement hobby was working with the company Avon. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, East Herkimer. Ann received the necessary care in a dignified and comfortable manner from the staff of the Alpine Nursing Home in Little Falls for over two years. She passed away there on the morning of November 22, 2014 (Saturday). She also was blessed with professionalism and loving care and consideration from the staff of the Little Falls Hospital. Her family is grateful. She is survived by her loving family including children, Deborah Slack and her husband Geoffrey of Mastic Beach, NY, and Rosanne Kenney and her husband Thomas of Baldwinsville, her sisters, Helen Sokol, Christine Sokol, and Mildred Sokol all of Herkimer and Nellie Hrynda of Ellensville, NY, grandchildren, William and Ashley Slack, Mary Slack, and Luke Kenney, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Sokol and sisters Rose Sokol and Mary Lepkowski. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 26th, 2014 at 10:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, and at 11:00 AM at the Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 305 Main Road in East Herkimer where Father John Udics will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, East Herkimer. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 AM. The family has asked to kindly consider contribution's in memory of Ann to either the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502 or to the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York, 441 West Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, NY 13204-1361.
