ILION - Louis "Louie" F. DesGrosielliers, age 72, of Spohn Rd., Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with his entire family by his side. He was born on December 4, 1942, in Ilion, the son of Eusebe and Marie (Farley) DesGrosielliers, and attended Annunciation and Frankfort schools. On April 27, 1963, he was married to Katherine "Kitty" Rood in Mohawk. Louie was employed at the Herkimer Co. Highway Dept. for thirty-four years. He was also a former member of the Ilion Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Katherine "Kitty"; his son, Daniel DesGrosielliers; his daughters, Tammy DesGrosielliers, Lisa DesGrosielliers, and Tina Sweeney and her husband, Michael, all of Ilion; nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Justin and fiancee, Abby Roll, Meghan, Jacob, Abigail, Mary Catherine, Christina, Danielle and Alyssa; four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, Hailey, and Christopher; his sister, Carol Helmer and her husband, Bob, of FL; his sister-in-law, Lorrie Rood; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Joe Marriott, John Wheeler, Daniel Davis and Daniel Zabele. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, George DesGrosielliers; and his sister, Ellen Hunt. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's larger facility located at 4309 Acme Rd. (old Main St. between Ilion and Frankfort). Calling hours are Thursday, December 18, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the funeral home service at 4309 Acme Rd. (old Main St.).
