Obituary of Leo B. Harford

LITTLE FALLS - Mr. Leo B. Harford, age 86, a World War II Veteran and a former city engineer with the City of Little Falls, NY, passed away with his family at his side on Monday morning December 22, 2014 in Sun City Center, Florida. He was born on July 19, 1928 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a son of the late Aloysius Patrick and Helen (Healey) Harford. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the New York State College of Forestry and a Master of Science degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He was a New York State Professional Engineer. His occupation was that of a Civil Engineer. For many years he served the City of Little Falls as City Engineer and retired as a Senior Civil Engineer with the New York State Department of Transportation, Syracuse, NY. He was a World War II Veteran, having served our country with the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946. His marriage to the former Theresa D. Savage took place in May of 1957 in Melbourne, Australia. They settled in New York State in January of 1963. The couple shared in nearly 58 years of love and devotion. They were residents of Onondaga Lake in the summers at one time and most recently of Florida. He is survived by his beloved wife Theresa, a daughter Helen Theresa Harford of Blackstone, Virginia, two grandchildren Theresa Rose Gunn and Sterling Bernard Gunn and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother Richard Harford. His graveside funeral service will be held in the spring of 2015 in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls, NY, with full Military Honors where he will be laid to rest. Friends and relatives will have ample notification prior to the service time that will be set. There are no calling hours at this time.
