HERKIMER: Frances A. Zuis, 96, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, January 8, 2015 at her home. Born on June 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Kathryn M. (Kenyon) Zuis. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. Frances was once employed as an assembler for Univac in both Ilion and Utica, NY. She enjoyed volunteering her services at The Herkimer Food Pantry and Catholic Charities of Herkimer County and in her spare time, she loved to travel. Frances was a life member and past president and past county president of the Herkimer V.F.W. #4915 Auxiliary and a member of the AARP of Ilion. She was a parishioner of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Parish, Herkimer. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Irene Zuis of Ilion and many nieces and nephews in Maine, Florida and in the Mohawk Valley area, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edmund Zuis, Charlie Zuis, John Zuis and his wife Betty. A sincere "Thank You" to my nieces Sandra Casale and Audrey Zuis. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 beginning at 8:30 AM from the chapel of the funeral home and at 9:00 AM from the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, Main Street, Herkimer, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Reverend Quy Vo, Pastor. Spring interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home.
