Obituary of Diane B. LaVenture Sawyer

HERKIMER - Diane B. (Durfey) LaVenture-Sawyer, age 76, of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Folts Home in Herkimer, with her dedicated family by her bedside. Diane was born on March 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Edward and Marguerite (Smith) Durfey. She was raised and educated in the Dolgeville and Ilion areas. Her working years were spent as a factory worker for various locales, retiring from the Curtains and Fabrics Outlet Store in Herkimer in 2000. A simple woman, Diane enjoyed being surrounded by family, and spent camping and holidays with her beloved children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Janelle Ebersole and her husband, Steve, of Trevose, PA, Jill Linger and her husband, Warren, of Norwich, NY, Julie Hulser and her husband, Bill, of Deerfield, and JoEllen Wildley, of Alabama; her son, Jeff LaVenture, of Ilion; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Margaret Higgins and Martha Owens, both of Florida, and Doreen Mosher, of North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and special friends, Phil Austin and Dale and Patty Bennett. She was predeceased by her infant son, Bruce LaVenture. Calling hours will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2015, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion, NY. A closing ceremony will be held by Martin Ciaccia, Funeral Director, immediately following visitation.
