Obituary of Mary M Depoe

LITTLE FALLS - Mary Martin Depoe, age 87, a resident of Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, passed away on Monday, January 19. She was one of six children born to the late Melvin and Arlene (Brown) Martin on March 9, 1927 in Wilna, NY. Mary lived most of her childhood at the Onondaga Orphanage, Onondaga, NY, after which she lived with family members in Watertown, moving with them to Wisconsin and Chicago. She later returned to the Syracuse area where she lived most of her life. She was married to Richard H. Depoe, who passed away in 1986. In 1987, Mary enrolled as a part-time student at Pinecrest Bible Training Center, Salisbury Center, where she resided until 1999. She loved the rich presence of the Lord in chapel services, and contributed her skills in interior decorating throughout the school. In 1999 she relocated to southern California. After suffering a stroke in 2001, she was in rehabilitative care there until she transferred back to New York, and eventually to the Little Falls facility. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; son Robert Brown; sisters Irene Cameron, Ethel Sirpenski, Loretta Sanders; brothers James Martin, George Martin; and cousin Leslie Brown and wife Estella. Mary is survived by her daughter, Roberta (Jeanie) Nauta of Charleston, WV; grandsons, Jason Todd Nauta and Jacob J. Nauta of southern California; cousin Frank (Louise) Crawley of Salem, OR; four nieces including: Pamela (Kenneth) Graff , Cicero, NY; Elaine D'Eredita, East Syracuse; Beverly Holmes, Key West, FL; nephews, Mark Cameron, Woodruff, WI; Paul Sirpenski, Providence, RI; and several great nieces and nephews. Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls. Calling time is 12 noon to 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Thomas Worth of Manlius will officiate, and Joan Forde of Austell, GA, will lead worship. Interment will be at the Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Route 29, Salisbury Center. Guests will be gathering for food and fellowship following the service at Arthur's Restaurant, 19 S. Main St., Dolgeville (Dutch treat). The funeral arrangements are with Funeral Director Harry J.
