Obituary of Anthony P. LaVallo

HERKIMER - Mr. Anthony P. LaVallo, "Vavoe" age 83, a lifelong resident of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 25th, 2015 in Herkimer, NY. He was born one of seven children on March 30, 1931 in Herkimer, a son of the late Pasquale "Patsy" and Ann Marie (Fierro) LaVallo. His marriage to the former Doris A. Richards took place on February 14, 1953 at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer. For many years Tony served as manager of the meat department at Cut Rate Supermarket in Herkimer. He was last employed as meat manager of the P & C Supermarket of Herkimer. He was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph. Anthony was an avid fan of the sport of basketball, and took a special liking to the New York Knicks and the Syracuse Orange teams. In fact, he was always known for his unique talent, the "hook shot." First and foremost his greatest love was spending time with his family. They meant everything to him. Special times reflected back upon include his love of the racetrack at Saratoga, and just all of the many moments the family spent together. Anthony is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Doris and children, Anthony LaVallo and his wife Debbie of Frankfort, Steven LaVallo of Amsterdam, Charlene Perruccio and her husband Nick of Saratoga and Michele Masten and her husband Craig of Saratoga; two siblings, Louisa Moretti of Herkimer, and Frances Russo of Torrance, California; his grandchildren, Catherine LaVallo and her significant other Jay Aiello, Tony LaVallo, Carly Brackett and her husband Robert, Andrew Masten and his wife Ashleanna, and Gregory LaVallo, two great - grandchildren, Sam Aiello and Lucy Brackett, a brother - in - law, Bob Richards of Gloversville, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Angelo, Allesio, and Attillio; and his sister, Rose Sangenetti. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY, (315) 866-1011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer with Father Quy Vo Celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There are no calling hours.
