Obituary of Diane M. Skibinski

LITTLE FALLS - Mrs. Diane M. Skibinski, age 86, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, NY passed away surrounded with love after a lengthy illness on Sunday morning, January 25th, 2015 at the St. Johnsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsville, NY. She received excellent care at the Rehabilitation Center, with a special mention to the "A Unit." She was born on June 10, 1928 in Little Falls, NY a daughter of the late Grover and Bertha (Unser) Murphy and was a graduate of Saint Mary's Academy. Her marriage to Edward Skibinski took place on December 1, 1951 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls with the Reverend Alfred Lamanna officiating. The couple shared in a blessed union of nearly 53 years until the passing of Mr. Skibinski on September 7, 2004. Diane worked for many years with Salada Tea in Little Falls as a tea packer. She was a devout catholic, and dedicated herself to the needs of the Holy Family Parish in Little Falls. She was very active with the church and was often appreciated for her commitment to setting up for mass. She was a member of the church Rosary Society and also served as a Eucharistic minister. On a personal level, Diane was an avid walker, no matter what the season! She is fondly remembered for her ability to tackle all sorts of weeds at the family home on Danube Street through the years, and was so talented in regards to the very special treats she would bake in the comfort of her kitchen. She kept a tidy home, as a reflection of her enjoyment of cleaning. All in all, Diane's greatest achievement was the love and close bonds that tied her family together. Each of her children have so many special memories of mom and dad, hence have dedicated the title to Diane of "World's Best Mom." She is survived by her beloved family, children, Keneck Skibinski and his wife Cynthia of Little Falls, Dale Skibinski and his wife Linda of Oppenheim, Bryan Skibinski of Little Falls, Cynthia Fasano and her husband A. Richard of Elk Grove, California, Sandra Skibinski of Crestone, Colorado, and Jodie Skibinski and her partner Derek Towse of Little Falls. Her cherished son Edgie Skibinski preceded her in death. Also surviving are grandchildren, Christopher Skibinski and his wife Allison, Laura Crisafulli and her husband Mario, Joshua Skibinski and wife Kira, Benjamin Skibinski, Courtney Schrader and her husband Shane, Adam Fasano and his partner Jodi Tuft, Joey Skibinski, Ayrck Skibinski, and Autheryonna Skibinski, six great - grandchildren, two sisters, Suzette Lamey and Debbie Zawtocki, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ed, her son Edgie, her sisters Virginia Rifenberg, Yvonne Irving, Adele Zysk, and Helen (Min) Gaworecki, and brothers Grover and Wendell Murphy. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 29th, 2015 at 10:00 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, NY. Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (315) 823-2424. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main Street in HERKIMER at 11:00 AM with Rev. Terence Healy, officiating, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. There will be calling hours at the funeral home the evening prior (Wednesday Jan. 28th) from 4 until 7 PM. In lieu of floral offerings, it is the wish of the family that memorial contributions in memory of Diane be considered to the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York, 441 West Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, NY 13204-1361.
