Obituary of Robert W Drumm

ILION - Robert W. Drumm, age 91, of 301 Forge Hill Estates, Ilion, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Little Falls Hospital. Robert was born in Utica on June 8, 1923, the son of the late George and Agnes (McGuiness) Drumm. He attended St. Francis de Sales Grammar and High School, Utica, NY. Bob was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army in the European Theatre. On April 23, 1949, he married Lillian J. Carney in St. Francis de Sales Church by Monsignor Charles Brady, a blessed union of fifty-eight years until her passing on February 25, 2007. He lived in the Utica area until moving to Ilion in 1960. Robert was employed by the New York Central and Conrail Railroad System as a brakeman and conductor for thirty-nine years until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, NY. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 229, Utica, NY, and Elks Lodge 1444 in Ilion, NY. Robert is survived by one daughter, Laurie Ann Franklin, of Mohawk, NY; one beloved granddaughter, Alison H. Franklin and her companion, Nicholas Stasilli, of Ilion; one beloved grandson, Paul R. Franklin, of Mohawk, NY; one son, Robert W. Drumm, Jr., and his companion, Kimberly J. Harris, of E. Herkimer, NY; one niece and nephew, Jim Callahan, of Grandville, NY, and Leslie Keers, of Chalfont, PA. He was predeceased by his sister, Virgina Keers; brother-in-law, James Keers, of Grandville, NY; and niece, Pamela (Keers) Callahan. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Church, E. Main St., Mohawk, NY, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened home at 102 West St., Ilion.
