Obituary of Nancy Coffin
EAST HERKIMER - Mrs. Nancy (Tisi) Coffin, age 95, passed away on Sunday February 1st, 2015 in Little Falls, NY with her loving family at her side.
She was born on September 4, 1919 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Leonard and Josephine (Barone) Tisi. She was educated in Little Falls schools. Her marriage to Edwin P. Coffin, Sr. took place May 11, 1946 at St. Joseph's Church in Little Falls. The couple had resided in East Herkimer since 1997. Mr. & Mrs. Coffin shared in over 61 blessed years until the passing of Ed on April 4, 2007. She last worked with the Little Falls Dress Company in Mohawk, NY. She retired in 1981.
Nancy's central focus in her life was her family. As a mother, sister and grandmother she generously gave of herself, always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved to sew and cook. Her specialty was lasagna which we will all miss. She was an avid cat lover. Whether living in Florida or New York she always had a feline friend to keep her company. Her presence will be deeply missed among her circle of family and friends.
She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, and the AARP. Other interests of Nancy included the Senior Patriots of Florida and the Gold Star Mothers.
She is survived by her children, Edwin P. Coffin, Jr. of Waterville, NY and Sharon Coffin of Lakeland, Florida, her daughter-law Chris (Coffin) Snyder, of Scotia, NY her sisters Ida Rich and Mary Raiello of Little Falls, seven grandchildren, a sister-in -law Fern Tisi, and many great - grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her children, Cpl Donald Coffin (Vietnam), James Coffin, Gary Coffin and Lorraine Coffin Tucci, brothers Orlando and Ben Tisi, and sisters Katherine LaPorta, Genevieve Lorenzoni, Sarah Federico, Philena Coffin, and Rose Perkov.
There will be calling hours at the funeral home (Friday Feb. 6th) from 5 until 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 7th, 2015 at 10:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, NY. Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (315) 823-2424. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets, Little Falls at 11:00 AM with Rev. Terence Healy, officiating, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Nancy Coffin be considered to either The Holy Family Parish or the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, both of Little Falls. Envelopes are available at the funeral home for these purposes.
