ILION - Salvatore "Sam" St. Mary, age 79, of Fowler Place, Terrace Hill Estates, Ilion, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, while plowing snow at his home. He was born on October 8, 1935, in Amsterdam, NY, the son of Samuel and Edith (Way) St. Mary, and attended Broadalbin schools. Sam was a sub contractor and operated St. Mary's Trucking in which he owned his own ten wheel truck for hauling gravel, black top and construction material. He was a former member of the Ilion Moose Lodge #1010. Surviving family members include his long-time close companion for over thirty years, Jennie Comes, with whom he resided; his son, Anthony S. St. Mary, of Redwood, NY; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Margaret Comes, Ruth Bala and Edith Lahue. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened location at 102 West St., Ilion, with Jennie's son, Donald Comes, officiating. Spring interment will be in Frankfort Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home at 102 West St., Ilion.
