HERKIMER - Mrs. Eleanor (Julian) LaPorte, age 85, of Herkimer, passed away on Sunday February 15th, 2015 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, NY with her loving daughter Diane at her side. She was born on June 1st, 1929 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Rocco Joseph and Julia (Lorraine) Julian. She was educated in Herkimer schools and had lived the greater part of her life in the Herkimer area. Her marriage to Edward LaPorte was filled with love until the passing of Mr. Laporte in 1991. She worked with the Herkimer County Sherriff's Department as a Deputy Matron. Eleanor was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed to knit and crochet as well as cooking and walking. She is survived by her daughter Diane LaPorte of Mohawk, a sister Dorothy Jakavenko and her husband Walter and their son Dennis Rice of Tampa, Florida, and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours (4:00 PM on Thursday) with the Very Reverend Mark Cunningham V.F., Pastor officiating.
