Obituary of Stanley J. Kopec

FRANKFORT - Mr. Stanley J. Kopec, age 92, of Frankfort, NY, World War II Veteran, passed away on Sunday morning March 8, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, NY. He was born on January 6, 1923 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Goclon) Kopec. He attend schools in Glenmore, NY as well as Camden, NY. He had lived in the Verona and Ilion areas, and moved to Frankfort in 2005. His marriage to the former Angeline Librera took place on December 28, 1983 in Herkimer. The couple extended mutual care and concern toward one another and always had put each other's needs before their own. Following 25 years of happiness, Mrs. Kopec passed away on March 9, 2009. Stanley served our country with the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in 1942. His tours included the South Pacific and the Philippines, with honorable discharge presentation in 1945. He worked for over 37 years with Rome Cable. He attended church in the valley at Our lady Queen of Apostle as well as the Church of Annunciation. He was a long time member of the Taberg American legion Post #1309. He is survived by a sister, Julia Kopec of Rome, NY , and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Angeline, a brother Theodore Kopec, two sisters, Mary Klara and Katherine Kopec, and In - Laws, Victor Librera, Samuel Librera, and baby John Librera, as well as Josephine Librera and Theresa Cerini. His funeral arrangements are with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, NY. Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (315) 894-8000. A calling hour will be held on Friday evening March 13, 2015 from 6 until 7 PM at the funeral home. The Taberg American Legion members are kindly asked to perform their service Friday at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. A brief Catholic prayer service will conclude the visitation (7PM) with Deacon James Bower officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, in the spring alongside his beloved wife.
