MOHAWK - Mr. David J. Harvey, age 65, of Mohawk, NY (Town of Stark), died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, March 9, 2015 of natural causes at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY. He was born on December 17, 1949 in Ilion, NY, a son of the late James and Teresa (Goodhines) Harvey and was educated in Mohawk schools. He graduated with Mohawk High School, 'Class of 1968.' His marriage to the former Mary Metott took place on July 26, 1969 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls. He was of the Catholic faith and was last employed as a service technician with Ferguson Fuel of West Winfield. David loved the outdoors and had a passion for hunting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was always happy to have his faithful canine companion Rudy at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Mary, his devoted daughter Melissa Harvey of Fayetteville, NY, his siblings, Diane Ostrander and her companion Ed Schults, Linda Callahan and her husband John, Sue Ellen Wainwright and her husband Timothy, Ann Marie Anglin and her companion Len Orr, his In - Laws, Barbara Metott and James and Linda Metott (who shared many special and close times with Dave and Mary), and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his very good friends, Susan, Dave and Aaron & Sarah Hardy, Jerry and Janet Crouch, and Mary Daley. All of his friends and neighbors were so special to him and the family appreciates everything. He was predeceased by his parents, James & Teresa, and a brother - in - law, Samuel Metott, and his mother and father - in - law, Edwin and Amelia Metott. A brief Catholic prayer service will conclude the visitation at 5PM in the funeral home.
