Obituary of Jerry A Guyer

ILION-EDMESTON - Jerry A. Guyer, age 71, of Edmeston, formerly of Ilion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at home, with his wife and family by his side. He was born on August 11, 1943, in East Herkimer, the son of Ernest Guyer, Sr., and Mabel (Walts) Guyer. On August 7, 1982, Jerry married Alice Utter in Oxford, NY. He was employed in the maintenance dept. at the White Glove Cleaners of Ilion for several years. He was of the Episcopal faith. Jerry was a former member of the Ilion Elks Lodge 1444. Surviving family members include his wife, Alice; his son, Jerry "Jay" Guyer and his wife, Megan, of Edmeston; his daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Laraby and her husband, Lynn "L.J.", of Brookfield; four grandchildren, Ariel, Jamie, "Bubby" and McKenzie; his sister, Florence Perry, of Boston; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Merla and Lewis Todd, of Bridgewater; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Helen Casler and Jeannie, and two brothers, Ernie and Dick Guyer. Jerry's Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2014, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home's newly reopened home at 102 West St., Ilion, with Father John Bassett, Rector of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church of Ilion, officiating. Spring interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the Memorial Service at the funeral home at 102 West St., Ilion.
