Obituary of Joseph Gillette

FRANKFORT - Mr. Joseph J. Gillette, 76 a longtime resident of Frankfort NY, died on Monday March 30, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on September 6, 1938 in Frankfort, NY a son of the late Joseph and Sadie (Bernadino) Gillette and was a graduate of Frankfort High School class of 1956. After graduating, Joseph served his country proudly in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, Joe came back to Frankfort where he became the owner of Uncle Joe's Bar for several years. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and the St. Francis Society. During his free time Joe enjoyed golfing, bowling, and watching the New York Yankees. His family would like to give a special thank you to Senior Network Health, especially Catherine Brough, RN and all the visiting nurses. Joseph is survived by his beloved daughter, Rachael Johnson & her husband Floyd of Herkimer, his sister Cecilia DeJohn of Ilion, his granddaughters Sarah & Amanda Johnson. Joe is also survived by his niece Jacqueline DeJohn, nephews Joseph DeJohn and Joe Franco. Joe also leaves behind his best friend, Freddie Spagnola of Utica, who was always there for him. Joseph is predeceased by his brother in-law Francis "Bucky" DeJohn. His funeral arrangements are with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd Ilion, NY. Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Mr. Gillette to the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI).
