Obituary of Carol Jean Baum

LITTLE FALLS - Carol Jean Baum, age 77 of Little Falls (1995-2015), and formerly of Liverpool, NY (1958-1995), passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Alpine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with breast cancer with her family at her side. She was born on October 22, 1937 in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Louis W. Baum, Sr. and Mary (Marosek) Baum. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School, Class of 1956. Her work experience began with Standard Desk Company in Herkimer (One year) and for many years she worked with General Electric Company Heavy Military Division of Syracuse, NY. She worked there as a Program Scheduling Coordinator. Carol took great pride in maintaining and beautifying her home, both inside and outside. It was a home in which the Baum family has lived for over seventy years. She took great delight in decorating her home for the seasons and was especially proud of her collection of antique bird Christmas ornaments. Today, most cars all look alike, but Carol was easily recognized as she drove around the valley in her 2004 "Woodie" PT Cruiser. Carol loved to travel. Early in her life she travelled to Europe and Hawaii, and in later years she made frequent trips to visit relatives in Arizona, California, and Pennsylvania. A highlight was celebrating her 70th birthday at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas with her entire family in attendance. During retirement, Carol enjoyed returning to Syracuse and the Thousand Islands to attend GE retirees' clambakes. Carol adored the British Royal Family and as a result she loved to attend elegant "high teas." She attended about two dozen teas throughout the country. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish in Little Falls, as well as the church Rosary Society. She was a Friend of the Herkimer Home, a member of the Little Falls Historical Society (Chairperson of refreshments and summer picnics), and a member of the General Electric 25 Year Club. Carol loved to play tennis, golf, gardening, and had a great love of shopping. Carol leaves her beloved family including her brother Louis Baum and companion Terry Tippin of Little Falls, her sisters Dorothy Sargent of Jamesville, NY and Eleanor Jones (George) of Goleta, California, her aunt Anne Kirchner of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, a brother - in - law Dr. Robert Sargent of Syracuse, NY. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Michelle Baum of Clifton Park, NY, Maureen Baum of Clifton Park, NY, Kevin Baum (Heather) of Philadelphia, PA, Tiffany Hennighausen (Brian) of Great Falls, Virginia, Mark Jones (Nicole) of San Luis Obispo, California, and Monica O'Reilly (Keith) of Lynbrook, New York, grand - nieces and grand - nephews, Dabney Baum, Margaux Baum, Tyler Jones, Justin Jones, Alyssa Jones, Christopher Jones, Ashley O'Reilly, and Casey O'Reilly, her cousins, Neil Baum (Carolyn), Tom Baum (Carol F.), Dr. Barbara Taylor (Rob), Albert Spraker (Liz), Bernard Spraker (Anita), Donald Spraker (Val), Adrienne Kllc (Mike), Conrad Marosek (Barbara), Diane Rimkis, Dona Retchless (Jerry), Jack Marosek, Maria Naylor (John), and Dan Kirchner, and her very special friends, Mary Alice Rieman, and Barbara Connor. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 10:30 AM from The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls where prayer will be offered followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls with the Rev. Terence Healy officiating assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Monday April 6 from 5 until 8 PM.
