Obituary of Louise M. Moretti

HERKIMER: Mrs. Louise M. (LaVallo) Moretti, 98, a lifelong resident of Herkimer, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, NY. Born in Herkimer, NY on April 5, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Ann Marie (Fierro) LaVallo. On January 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to Patrick A. Moretti at St. Anthony's Church. They shared a union of 40 years as he predeceased her in December 1979. Louise was a homemaker and a remarkably strong, peace loving women, who preferred to see the best in everyone. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother whose family's health and well being were of the utmost concern to her and she was happiest when surrounded by family and preparing family dinners. Louise enjoyed watching TV game shows and sporting events. She loved taking daily walks, gardening and loved occasional trips to various casinos. Louise was a loyal member of Herkimer Senior Citizens. Surviving are her beloved daughter, Teresa & special son-in-law Bob, with whom she resided for 36 years and her loving son, Patrick; her cherished grandchildren, Dana(John) Swierkos of Penfield, NY, Kristin(Bob) Miller of Orchard Park, NY, Scott(Kara) Sherry of Parker, Colorado, Meryl(Jeff) Berger of Bristol, Indiana and Whitley(Clay) Boyd of Orange Park, Florida; her precious great-grandchildren Alexandria and Wesley Miller, Hayden, Samuel, and Carleigh Sherry, Hudson and Jackson Boyd to whom she was affectionately known as "Grandma Lou." She is also survived by her sister, Frances Russo of California; her sisters-in-law, Mary LaVallo, of Vero Beach, Florida, Doris LaVallo of Herkimer, NY, Mary Byron of Liberty, NY; Theresa Moretti of Little Falls, NY and Philomena Moretti of Herkimer, NY, as well as many fond nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her sister, Rosie Sanganetti and brothers, Angelo, Alessio, Attilio, and Anthony LaVallo. Family and friends are invited to attend Louise's Funeral Mass on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, with Father Leo Potvin, officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. There will be no public calling hours. Those wishing to make a donation in Louise's memory may choose a charity of their choice or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. The family is being cared for and guided by Harry J. and Kevin E.
