Obituary of Salvatore Sam Marchese

LITTLE FALLS - Mr. Salvatore Sam Marchese, age 84, a longtime resident of Little Falls, NY passed away on Monday morning May 25, 2015 at Faxton - St. Luke's Healthcare, town of New Hartford, NY. Sam was blessed with his loving family at his side and his passing followed a short illness. He was born on May 6, 1931 in Frankfort, NY a son of the late Salvatore and Elizabeth (Guarniere) Marchese. He was educated in Frankfort schools and went on to serve our country with the United States Navy during the Korean War. His marriage to the former Nadine Brewer took place November 28, 1953 in Albany, NY. Sam worked as a laborer with Local 35 Union of Utica, NY, a position he held for nearly forty years. He was a member of the Holy Family Parish. Sam was a proud and civic minded member of the community of Little Falls. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and the American Legion. He was a former 2nd Ward City Alderman, and a member of the Board of Public Works. He was currently on the Urban Renewal and was a proud member of the Democratic Party. Sam was often found enjoying the links and his friends at the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and was well - known at OTB. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 61 years, Nadine, his children, Gary Marchese and his wife Teresa of Clarksville, TN, and Sammy Dean Marchese and his wife Roxanne of Manheim, NY, his sisters, Florence Quatrino of Little Falls and Elizabeth Donovan and her husband Jere of Piedmont, South Carolina, grandchildren, Samantha Jo Marchese, Cassandra Marie Marchese, Justin Bouck, Travis Mullinax and wife Amanda, Brandi Birdwell and her husband Corey, and Dana Mullinax, his aunt, Rose Guarniere, several great - grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and In - Laws including Marlyn Hecox of Little Falls and Walter Ostasz of Little Falls. He also leaves his canine loving companions Marley & Jasper. He was predeceased by brothers Frank Marchese and sisters Josephine Ostasz, Rosalie Derkay, Jennie Dowhaniak, and Mary Stefaniak. His family has planned all funeral and burial arrangements with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, NY. Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea, Funeral Directors (315) 823-2424. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 30, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls and at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Parish Church corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Terence Healy, Pastor, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer with full military honors. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday May 29, from 4 until 7 PM. The American Legion will hold their service at 6 PM, and the Little Falls Elks will hold their service at 6:30 PM.
