Obituary of Antoinette Rix

EAST RIDGE, TN - Antoinette "Nettie" Rix, 97, of East Ridge Residence in East Ridge, Tenn., formerly of Sebring, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in a local nursing facility. She was born on Nov. 2, 1917, in Herkimer, N.Y., the daughter of Albert and Antonie Tresohlavy. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul W. Rix; and sons Kenneth Rix and Donald Rix. One of five children, she has one living sister, Helen Beauchamp, of Mohawk, N.Y. She is survived by daughters Anita (Monty) Rawls, of Ringgold, Ga., and Patricia (Larry) Spain, of Hickory, N.C.; and son Gerald (M.J.) Rix, of Duluth, Ga.; three grandsons, Chris and Brett Rawls, David Rix; and four great-grandchildren, Chandler, Caroline, Meredith, and Grant Rawls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Some of the children and grandchildrens favorite memories are of the educational experience of listening to Nettie tell about the cultural and technological changes that occurred from her childhood with immigrant parents to riding a Harley at age 94. Those shared life events cannot be found in textbooks or on television. Nettie was Catholic and had great faith and love of God which she shared with family and by which she lived her life. Her ready smile was a trademark of her personality. She will be missed by many younger friends from NC, NY, FL, GA, and TN with whom she has shared her time.
