Obituary of Walter J. Bucek

LITCHFIELD: Walter Joseph Bucek, 93, of Litchfield, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Clinton of renal failure. Walt was born on July 2, 1921 in Little Falls, NY, the son of the late Felix and Frances (Bialoch) Bucek. He was a graduate of Ilion High School. He owned a dairy farm for many years and later worked in the Remington Arms Company, retiring in 1983. Walt was a caring, loving husband and father. He was a hard worker and would help anyone. Walt had a love for hunting and animals. He was known as the "Litchfield Legend" and was the oldest living Litchfield resident. He was a member of the Ilion Fish & Game Club, St. Francis Club in Frankfort and the Annunciation Church in Ilion. He married Doris Vineyard, of Mohawk on March 2, 1946. He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Donna (Francis) Macrina, JoAnn (Gary) Rigo, Karen Bucek (Daniel) Jory, Christine (Randy) Shields; five grandchildren, Eric Macrina, Mindy Rigo and her boyfriend, Curt Kemp, Joseph (Pam) Macrina, Amanda Shields and her boyfriend, Jeff Albright, Brittney Jory and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and John Macrina. He also leaves his brother Stanley Bucek of Richfield Springs; in-laws, Virginia Dunn of New Hampshire, Jack Vineyard of Cooperstown and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, father, two brothers and four sisters. A special thanks to the neighbors, friends and medical staff that gave their loving care and support. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (Town of Frankfort), Ilion, NY. Funeral services will begin at 1:15 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the funeral home, where prayers will be offered, and 2:00 PM at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Paul Catena, Pastor. Procession will then follow to Litchfield Cemetery, Town of Litchfield where he will be laid to rest.
