FRANKFORT: Funeral arrangements have been finalized on Thursday, August 27, 2015 for Amelio Papa, 90, a lifelong Frankfort resident, who passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion. Born in the town of Frankfort on April 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Vito and Angeline (Cacciatore) Papa. Raised and educated locally, he attended Frankfort schools and on June 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Virginia Loiacano with whom he shared a union of 60 years until her passing on November 18, 2006. Amelio worked as a self-employed dairy farmer. He loved his family unconditionally and there is nothing that he wouldn't do for them. His home was open to all and was a gathering place for all of the Papa and Loiancano family members, his friends and members of the church which was very important to him. Amelio was a former board member of Oak View Cemetery in Frankfort and was a member of the East Schuyler Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughters, Marie Walker and her husband The Rev. Chris Walker of Kingston, Ontario Canada; Mamie Scalise and her husband Ron of Frankfort; his grandchildren Ron Scalise, Michael Scalise and his wife Tracy, Angelina Walker-Ward and her husband Keith Ward ; great grandchildren Johnathen, Joshua, Dominick, Piper, Elijah and India; a sister, Katherine Loomis of Millers' Mills and a brother, Vito Papa, Jr. and wife Laura of Ilion. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Papa and many very close nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Angelo Papa, husband to Jean Papa. Family and friends are all invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the E. Schuyler Methodist Church, 118 Church Road, Schuyler, NY with his son-in-law, The Rev. Chris Walker, officiating. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family in Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort. Donations in honor of Mr. Papa may be given to Mamie Scalise at address 1238 State Route 171 ( Gorge Road), Frankfort, NY 13340. Funeral arrangements have been planned with Harry J. and Kevin E.
