Obituary of Mary Catherine Papaleo
LITTLE FALLS: Mary Catherine (Gilbo) Papaleo, 68, a lifelong Little Falls area resident, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford with the love and support of her family at her side.
John H. and Margaret M. (Dinneen) Gilbo. Raised and educated locally, Mary was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 1965. On January 18, 1969 she married John "Hap" Papaleo at St. Joseph's Church with whom she shared 46 years of love, happiness, and the gift of a family.
Mary was employed for 20 years at The Herkimer County Trust Company in Little Falls as a bank teller and in the trust department. She concluded her working career retiring as a clerk from the Village of Herkimer. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she brought happiness to those who knew and loved her. Quality time with her loved ones was what she treasured the most. Mary loved going to the casino, taking bus trips, and traveling, especially the trip that she took to Hawaii. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish and was also a former member of the Holy Family Parish Rosary Society.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, John "Hap" Papaleo; a son, Peter Papaleo and wife Natalie of Somerset, MA; a daughter, Lisa Aceto and husband Michael of Ilion; her cherished grandchildren, Nico, Dante and Gianni Papaleo and Angelina, Isabella and Dominick Aceto. She also leaves her brothers, John Gilbo and Jim Gilbo and wife Barb of Little Falls; her mother-in-law, Michealena Papaleo of Little Falls; a brother-in-law, Jim and wife Michele (Mick) Papaleo of Little Falls; a sister-in-law, Annette Boslet and husband Bill of Canajoharie, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifelong friend, Lorraine Smith.
She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Peter Papaleo, sister-in-law, Roberta (Bobbie) Gilbo and a nephew, Francis (Fran) Gilbo.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 beginning at 8:15 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls and at 9:00 AM at the Holy Family Parish, corner of East Main & John Streets in Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Enea Family funeral Home, Little Falls (315)823-2424.
In lieu of floral arrangements, those wishing to make a donation in Mary's memory may consider Holy Family Parish, The American Cancer Society or Angelman Syndrome Foundation; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
